A Cat Poem


cussing the cat

first thing in the morning


so many egregious actions

stop scratching the screen

get off the counter

you licked my breakfast!


can’t you just lie there,

fluffy and cute,

match the decor,

sleepy symbol of domestic tranquility?


I have misjudged you entirely.


out, out, out,

out you go


climb a tree

chase a lizard

sharpen those claws

chatter your teeth at a bird on the wire


you wild animal you
