I wake in the wrong room

sun rising through the wrong window

voices in the distance

the hiss, drip, drip of coffee

rumble of laughter

your laughter

my father, in the kitchen, making coffee

I am home

Is this not the best photo ever? That one tear. Those tiny hands. Dad and I both concentrated on the job at hand, after an obvious time of struggle and tender reassurances. One of the few photos I have of Dad and me. A treasure.

A good father sets the tone for the rest of one's life. I am blessed beyond measure. Thanks Dad.

PS I chew my fingernails now. No need for clippers!
