Sunday Morning Blues
extravagant stretches
take up
the entire
expanse of bed
covers flipped back
by a diligent
timekeeper
quickly replaced
cup cradled
coffee sipped
aroma savored
waking the body
sun on my face
crisp morning air
blues on the stereo
waking the soul
brushing teeth
somehow
takes an entire song
“You go on dear…”
feet catching the beat
child-like joy filling
my sunlit space
late for church again
I wander in tardy
sermon underway
tip-toe to my pew
feeling no guilt
Jesus and I
have been dancing
to the
Sunday Morning Blues
Wonderful! Reminded me of my own Sunday mornings as a youngster!
